Introducing Yolanda Christophe, owner of Buttercup Pastries and Catering, a Miami-based company formed in February 2018 that offers desserts and pastries. Yolanda had been baking and selling her baked goods for over three years before positive feedback from her customers persuaded her to start Buttercup Pastries and Catering. Her Bahamas heritage, which is rich in pastries and desserts, was a natural inspiration for her.
Buttercup also has a special touch; her boyfriend and also a member of the NBMBAA South Florida Chapter , Jarrod Benjamin, was very supportive of her dream.
Yolanda describes her business as a Millenial-led company catering mostly to a millennial market that loves elaborate desserts and pastries.
Her NBMBAA membership roots run deep. Yolanda was a NBMBAA Scholarship recipient in 2017. She says of her NBMBAA membership, “My membership in NBMBAA South Florida Chapter allows me to network and gives me the feeling that I have a business family I can depend when I need a network of support. I love that everyone is caring about each other’s goals and supportive of my education goals as a priority.”
Yolanda has completed her degree requirements at Florida Memorial University, a Historically Black College and University (HBCU) and partner of the NBMBAA. Her commencement will take place May 2019.
Her future plans are to develop her brand and increase her marketing using social media. She will also be partnering with TasteDee’s Kitchen for cross sales.
Fun fact about Yolanda; she is a middle child; number three of five.
Buttercup is open seven days a week and caters to the Miami metro area and Broward County. Catering orders should include a three-day notice period.
